Mine! : a comics collection to benefit Planned Parenthood

Created by ComicMix, LLC

Planned Parenthood, and the millions of people they help each year, need every bit of help they can get. Mine! a comics collection where the proceeds go to Planned Parenthood. From stories about everyday people to fantastic adventures, Mine! celebrates and defends Planned Parenthood in a book that can live on in our homes, libraries and the halls of Congress. Mine! features stories about trailblazing women like Margaret Sanger and Emma Goldman, civil rights leaders like Gloria Richardson, a person's first time going to a Planned Parenthood, debunking myths about sex, STI screenings, HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention, as well as fantastical stories with superheroes, Greek mythology, and a future both with and without Planned Parenthood. There is something for everyone in Mine!

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Is it still "Mine!"?

We know it's been a while since we wrote-- we got Mine! out to the world, we sold a lot of copies, we raised thousands of dollars for Planned Parenthood, and then, well, 2020 and a Supreme Court seat or two and an election and all of the rest. And while we wanted to thank you again for everything you've done so far, we also want to draw your attention to a few things you might not have heard about.

Even with the Supreme Court’s decision today to let the Affordable Care Act remain law, their recent decision to review a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade has further emboldened a number of states, making their citizens increasingly vulnerable to having rights over their own bodies restricted:

  • In New Jersey, State Senate President Steve Sweeney and  Assembly Speaker Craig Coughlin have failed their constituents by blocking the Reproductive Freedom Act (S3030/A4848), a bill to protect and expand access to reproductive health care including prenatal care, abortion, and birth control for more than 240 days. Governor Phil Murphy has publicly committed to signing the Reproductive Freedom Act into law.
  • In Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott signed legislation on May 19 that bans abortion  at six weeks of gestation, so early in pregnancy that many may not even know that they're pregnant. The Texas law comes with a new, uniquely cruel twist that would allow anyone who is opposed to abortion—regardless of where they live or  whether they have any association with a patient—to sue an abortion provider or anyone who helps a patient obtain an abortion, such as by  providing financial help or transportation.
  • And these states aren't alone. 549 abortion restrictions have been introduced in 47 state legislatures this year alone, including 165 abortion bans as of June 7. Seventeen states have so-called “trigger” bans and/or pre-Roe abortion bans that could go into effect if Roe v. Wade is overturned or weakened.

We know it's tight for a lot of people now, but if you can, please give the good folks at Planned Parenthood a hand with your money, your voice, or your vote.

We also wanted to bring you up to speed on what some of the contributors to Mine! have been working on lately:

Give them all a look, and support them the same way they supported Planned Parenthood.
